Describes motivation process for creativity with emphasis on intrinsic motivation by Corey K Katir

UW coach Steve Sarkisian is scheduled to be a guest on the Kevin Calabro Show on ESPN 710 Seattle today at 4:30 p.m. He’s supposed to be on for about a half-hour.

From what it says here, he will “talk about the O-line and the backup QB battle and his boat and Mike Leach and his comments about every kid in the state someday wanting to be a Husky.” The latter comment is sure to be well received by co-host Jim Moore.

You can listen here or find a podcast later here.

Phil Steele, who produces a college football preview magazine that is a favorite of many, has released his pre-season All-Pac-12 team today.

Steele names four teams, and there are nine Huskies listed in all.

Those on the second team are — quarterback Keith Price (behind USC’s Matt Barkley) and cornerback Desmond Trufant.

And those on the fourth team are — center Drew Schaefer and safety Sean Parker.

First off, a note that we’ll hold a live chat today at noon. It’s May and all that, but there’s still lots of stuff to chat about, so let’s do so at noon.

Wednesday links — Bateman to Alabama
From seattletimes.nwsource

We’ll start this morning with the news that Cooper Bateman of Salt Lake City, regarded as one of the top QB prospects for the Class of 2013, has committed to Alabama.

Here’s a story noting that Bateman made his announcement simply by sending a statement to members of the Alabama media.

Bateman was among those who visited UW for Junior Day and had said he was seriously considering the Huskies. However, many recruiting analysts had predicted he might ultimately pick Alabama, so this isn’t a huge surprise. The Tide may have more of an easier path to starting (and yes, Bateman’s announcement also means former Husky OC Doug Nussmeier, now at Alabama, helped lure one away from the Huskies).

UW obviously appears pretty well-stocked at QB going forward, with Keith Price and Derrick Brown there now and Jeff Lindquist and Cyler Miles arriving in the fall.

But the Huskies want to sign a quarterback for this class. UW has also been aggressively pursuing Troy Williams of Narbonne High in Harbor City, Calif., and some have portrayed the Huskies as the favorite for him. UW also has an offer out to Johnny Stanton of Santa Margarita, Calif. But that is apparently now as an athlete and not a quarterback.

UW is expected to find out on Thursday if it has won the battle for running back Justin Davis of Stockton, Calif. He has said his finalists are UW, Cal and USC, with the Trojans still regarded as the favorite despite getting a commitment Tuesday from RB Ty Issac of Joliet, Ill.

IN OTHER NEWS. …

— I’m told the planned interview with UW coach Steve Sarkisian on ESPN 710 Seattle did not run Tuesday but is expected to run today. I’ll post a link to the podcast when it does.

First of all, Happy Mother’s Day, including to my mother, still going strong at 85. As for the links, they are heavy on news of recently graduated Huskies trying to forge their way in the NFL. ….

— That’s Chris Polk in an Eagles jersey (in an AP photo) blocking during a drill during a Philadelphia mini-camp Saturday. This story quotes Polk from his interview following the practice, saying that “it was a shock to me” that he didn’t get drafted but that he will use it as extra motivation. He also again denies the rumors of a hip injury, and as I’ve noted, there was zero evidence of that during his UW career, when he did have two shoulder surgeries and one knee surgery.

— Here’s a story that pictures Polk during his post-practice interviews and says his blocking could give him a leg up.

— And this story includes some video of Polk from his post-practice interview.

Cort Dennison, meanwhile, is getting a look from the Raiders this weekend during their mini-camp as one of the players Oakland has brought in for a tryout (and for whatever reason, seems as if there have been a lot of Raider-Husky ties through the years, from Ben Davidson and Curt Marsh to Marques Tuiasosopo and then to recent guys like Kahlif Barnes and Marcel Reece.) And probably worth making clear here that getting a tryout — as is Dennison — is different than Polk, who has signed as an undrafted free agent and is part of Philadelphia’s roster. Jermanie Kearse (Seahawks) and Devin Aguilar (Titans) also signed as undrafted free agents.

— Another former Husky, Kavario Middleton, is also getting a tryout with the Seahawks this weekend, as is E.J. Savannah, as was noted on Friday.

— And also getting a look in a tryout camp is kicker Erik Folk with the Falcons.

— NFLMocks.com offers this scouting report on Keith Price.

Bud Withers makes his picks on the Pac-12 South.

— There’s even more conference juggling going on (you’re more than excused if you feel like you can’t keep track of it all) and CBSSports.com says it could lead to a consolidation of power in the top four conferences.

— Pacific Takes offers an update on some of the top West Coast recruits for the Class of 2013.

— Here’s an interesting story on the chances of Johnny Hekker, a Bothell High grad who walked on at Oregon State, to make the roster of the Rams.

— A few links from Friday from ESPN.com’s Pac-12 blog.

The junior from London became the first Husky to win back-to-back conference titles in a sprint event, repeating as 200-meter champion with a lifetime-best 20.45 seconds.
